Roystons Lions Club visit Braintree Lions

0

On Thursday 10th May at the club meeting a warm welcome was extended to our visitors from Roystons Lions Club who turned up in force for an evening of board games. Although many of the participants were a little rusty on the actual rules there was a degree of raucous fun and a competitive spirit was evident. The evening concluded with an excellent buffet supper prepared by David and Beverley at the Constitution Club.

The Lion Tom Dix Train takes to the tracks for the first 2012 date.

On May Bank Holiday 7th May the Braintree Lions Tom Dix Train left its station for the first time this summer and was to be spotted ferrying youngsters (and some Mums and Dads) around Bocking School field as part of the Bocking May Fayre Celebrations.  Despite the variable inclement weather a number of hardy souls braved the elements and enjoyed a thrilling and exciting open top ride.  Money raised will benefit Bocking School and Lions local charities.

Braintree Lions were very pleased to be asked again to help with the annual Marie Curie Collection. On Friday 9th and Saturday 10th March the Lions were collecting outside Tesco Gt. Notley.

The excellent sum of £800.27 was raised. Our thanks to Tesco for allowing us to collect and of course the people of Braintree, who once again gave so generously.

On the 11th Day/Night of Christmas Santa, and his elves, were finally able to put their tired feet up.

Thanks to the amazing generosity of the people we have been able to collect nearly £4600. This money has been and will be used to help the less fortunate people of Braintree.

The Lions Club of Braintree would like to thank everybody for their continuing support, not just over Christmas, but through out 2011.

We wish you a safe and happy Christmas and New Year and look forward to seeing you in 2012.

Now all Santa has to do is visit all the good children of Braintree on Saturday night!
